About
Operating from our fourth generation ranch at the base of the beautiful Wallowa Mountains in remote Northeastern Oregon, we focus on ranching practices that restore the soil, respect the animals, build sustainable businesses in our rural community, and grow nutrient dense, delicious food. We seek lasting change on the land, in our community and in the food system. These practices result in a quality and complexity of grassfed beef unlike anything you’ve experienced.
The practices used to raise Carman Ranch premium meats restore the soil, respect the animals, build sustainable communities, and grow nutrient dense, delicious food. We work with a collective of family ranches using holistic ranching practices on the pastures and prairies of the Wallowas, where our families have raised livestock for more than a century.
Today the Carman Ranch ecosystem supports our ranchers and like-minded suppliers, butchers, chefs, and others who make the world a more healthy, sustainable, and delicious place. Carman Ranch is proud to be a leader in the regenerative food revolution.
By nature, cattle graze outdoors and socialize in herds with plenty of space to roam. Our cattle thrive on searching out nutritious forage year-round in these places:
- The Nature Conservancy Preserve on Zumwalt Prairie
- The hills & valleys of our historic family ranches
- The armor rangeland of Hells Canyon in winter
- The high-elevation Chesnimus country in the summer
